Whilst Wikileaks founder Julian Assange remains in his London Ecuadorian embassy inside a small converted office- ordering pizzas and being visited by friends, it is more than clear that at the moment Assange is living the life of something like a caged animal. He cannot go outside, he cannot see sunlight and essentially he is in his own prison, though clearly it is worse than some prisons (If you count Norways example of “prison”). The Australian is literally trapped, outside the embassy await police ready to arrest him if even his foot is outside the door, then there are the loyal fans saying they will protect the “messenger of truth” from the tyranny of the Government.

The fact is in 2010 Julian Assange revealed to the world a huge amount of leaked government files that really tell us what idiots they play the people for. The corruption that seeps from these leaks reveal to us that our worst enemy could be our government and this is spread across the world from Europe to the United States to the Middle East almost nothing is what it seems. His leaks potentially assisted in the uprising across the Middle East where governments were fought and the leaks shook the core of many supposed friendships and enemies when it came to nations and their governments- what people need to realize is it doesn’t matter how ugly these leaks are, it doesn’t matter how many dreams it had shattered, Assange revealed the cold hard truth that your government was afraid to reveal to you.

Assange sketch in a court appearance.

Some of the most controversial leaks to have been revealed were as follows: Climate change officials manipulating stats when it came to climate change, unaccounted civilian deaths and torture in the Iraq war, footage of US soldiers shooting dead unarmed civilians and journalists, hidden war logs on the Iraqi and Afghan wars, King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia asking the US to attack Iran, Britain’s Iraq inquiry fixed to protect “US interests”, The US asking its diplomats to steal personal human material and information from UN officials and human rights groups and much much more.

Julian Assange spoke about the response given to him by influential people and the disappointment he felt when he literally had a target on his head for revealing the truth that the media doesn’t know, and when it does- revealing what it decides to filter out. His frustration is clearly heard at his own Australian Governments lack of protection towards him and the ongoing hostility he had felt for exposing the truth to the world.

People have said I am anti-war: for the record, I am not. Sometimes nations need to go to war, and there are just wars. But there is nothing more wrong than a government lying to its people about those wars, then asking these same citizens to put their lives and their taxes on the line for those lies. If a war is justified, then tell the truth and the people will decide whether to support it.There have been dozens of serious calls in the US for me to be “taken out” by US special forces. Sarah Palin says I should be “hunted down like Osama bin Laden”, a Republican bill sits before the US Senate seeking to have me declared a “transnational threat” and disposed of accordingly. An adviser to the Canadian Prime Minister’s office has called on national television for me to be assassinated. We are the underdogs. The Gillard (Australian) government is trying to shoot the messenger because it doesn’t want the truth revealed, including information about its own diplomatic and political dealings.

Assange to a few, is a “guilty” man.

Whilst Assange was in hiding then came along the news from Sweden that he had apparently “raped” 2 girls and that he must be extradited back to Sweden to face these supposed charges. The evidence of these sudden allegations are weak. Also the last time i checked a condom breaking during consensual sex is not rape. Not to mention Swedens fallacy in their communication to him, he is not charged for any crime and is wanted for questioning yet they are refusing to do it in any other way besides face to face and in Sweden. The problem with getting Assange back into Sweden is that once he is there, he could then be extradited to the United States for treason, and do you know the potential fate of Assange under the US Constitution for supposed treason? Jail/Fine or the DEATH PENALTY.

Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.”

Assange Supporters.

So in the meanwhile the brave country of Ecuador and its officials have decided to grant Assange Asylum in their embassy for however long that they want to. The UK wants to override International Law with it’s domestic laws claiming that either way they will force themselves into the embassy and have Mr. Assange arrested.  In hearing this news Ecuador stood up for itself by stating; “We want to be very clear, we are not a British colony.” Ecuadorian President Raphael Correa twittered “No one is going to terrorize us.” Since then Sweden and the UK has softened it’s forceful display of diplomacy but will continue to have guards monitor the Ecuadorian Embassy and have Assange arrested at any given opportunity.

In saying this we know it is a sad affair when we know that a man that dedicated his time and efforts to reveal the truth to the people has quiet literally got a bounty on his head from many nations and their ambassadors. It almost appears that we are almost content on living a lie, ignoring what we know is true, following the exact words that are spoon fed to us and living in this make belief world of rainbows and butterflies…Assange gave us all a harsh wake up call, and he is paying the price for it today.
