As i woke up in the early morning of the 17th of September i switched on my TV and saw “Breaking News” basically on all television stations here in Australia. Words scrolled underneath about “overnight terror raids” in my city of Sydney. Images of sirens flashing and men handcuffed and restrained whilst on their knees. Their faces blurred with only their distinguishable features being their thick beards. As i went to work i saw peoples faces glued to the television sets, making comments among one another and certainly i saw the fear creeping up to their eyes after hearing about these ISIS supporters planning a random beheading in the streets of Sydney, and after what happened in the streets of London, for a moment i understood their concerns.

One of the terror raids convicted (and later freed)

One of the terror raids convicted (and later freed)

Yet three days after the attack and these horrifying images being plastered all over our Television Stations, Radio channels and front page Newspapers more information had come into light about what exactly happened and how extensive this threat was to my fellow folk in this wonderful city. In total 27 properties were raided with up to 800 police involved in total from all departments. Initially 15 people were arrested, which seems like a significant amount. Yet today only ONE from the initial 15 people arrested remains in custody.

The Media titled this “The Biggest Terror Raid In Australia’s History” and these words echoed through so many mouths and it became a haunting testament to the “threat” that we have from extremists here in Sydney. Yet now that we have filtered through those initially charged, we find that the actual threat came from a single individual. Indeed there must have been a better way that this threat could have been handled, yet instead the events that morning became a perfect setting for Mass Hysteria that added fuel and lit the match to a relatively stable society. Certainly if the threat was realistically from one man, it could have been handled without the hundreds of policemen, dogs, helicopters and photographers.

Some (non convicted) men claimed to be beaten and injured by policemen during the raids.

Some (non convicted) men claimed to be beaten and injured by policemen during the raids.

During these raids there was information that people, that were never charged, had been beaten and assaulted. The next morning 200 Muslims gathered at the War Memorial in Lakemba to demonstrate against the harshness of the raids and the police officers rough treatment. One protester (14 years of age) who had his home raided shouted “They (police) had no decency to at least knock, they just broke in. My mother was screaming. My mother was half naked. They punched her on the ear as she covered herself with a blanket and they restrained me to the floor whilst the dog [policeman] held me down with his boot on my neck.“.

During this period it appears that the worst of society come out to play. We either have those sympathizers of extremism or those that already had their hatred for Muslims amplified by these “findings”. Where does that leave us level headed people? In the middle ground of reason. Ever since this raid on Sydney within just a few days we see that everyday innocent Muslims are paying the price for the few crazies within their community.

tabthreattomuslim1

Immediately after the raids threats were sent by the ADL to Muslims- including threats to bomb mosques.

Since the raids Mosques have been desecrated and have received death threats by the ADL (Australian Defense league)- including open threats of calling to bomb Lakemba and Auburn mosques. Heated protesters attended two proposed mosque sites in Currumbin and Maroochydore in the Australian state of Queensland shouting “We don’t want Muslims here” and yelling “They will kill us all.“, whilst also sending threats of rape to the mayor who was in support of the Mosques.

We have also had cars of which are driven by Muslims vandalized with graffiti that says “F*cken Muslim” and we have many independent reports of women being both physically and verbally abused on the streets- including a Muslim woman having coffee thrown at her face from a car, south of Brisbane. There was also an Imam being held in Sydney airport for 2.5 hours with no reason causing him to miss his flight (and not be reimbursed) and not to mention those “suspected” and not convicted of terror have supposedly been abused and mishandled.

This is all a clear result of mass hysteria. When all Australian eyes were glued to the media all they saw was ISIS, Muslim men on their knees, police raiding homes and eventually all of this imagery does and will cause people to “react”. I had people on my Facebook news-feed calling on us Sydney siders to “be vigilant” and the Anti Muslim posts that was being shared i had never seen before in my history on the social media website. It was EVERYWHERE.

Muslims had their cars vandalized after the raids.

Muslims had their cars vandalized after the raids in Liverpool. (“F*ckin Muslim”)

Yet the timing of this Raid is oddly suspicious in my eyes and hear me out for a moment. I don’t like conspiracy theories but the skepticism from the community is not nonsense, nor is it far fetched when you think about it. The series of events that led to this raid was nothing more than a gradual heating of an oven set to explode. Only a week or two before “The Biggest Terror Raid In Australias History” we had the government speaking about “Team Australia” and indicating that it sets to propose new terror laws, some very questionable new terror laws.

One of the new terror laws that the government is attempting to introduce in haste is to give police the power to interrogate people “suspected” of terrorism and keep them detained for two weeks without actually being charged for anything- and also, only in the case of “terror suspects” the government wants to be able to charge someone as “Guilty until proven innocent” which goes against the fundamental and crucial worldwide law concept of “Innocent until proven guilty”.

Muslims were, and are concerned these new laws would target them and lets not beat around the bush, most terror related suspicions do involve Muslims. The scary thought is that with these new laws, perhaps even my own blog could label me- in the eyes of police a “terror sympathizer” for being against American foreign policy and for being pro Gaza. It’s rather quiet frightening. These anticipated laws led to a lot of suspicion from Muslims and disbelief from liberals.

This Mass Hysteria causes the worst of society to come out and play.

This Mass Hysteria causes the worst of society to come out and play.

Not only that shortly after these New terror laws were spoken about the government suddenly decided to raise Australias terror threat from MEDIUM to HIGH. Ah yes, the deep red indicator that symbolizes to the public that a terror attack is “highly likely”. Then days after the threat is changed to HIGH we see “The largest terror raid in Australias history” which would now in essence, in the eyes of the public, make the governments new Anti-terror laws suddenly feasible because lets face it, we all truly, madly deeply want our heads attached. Could have all these events been a political move to sway public opinion?

Now don’t get me wrong, we all know that indeed there are extremists out there, sure i can give you that one. Yet why is it so unbelievable to people out there that there is an individual that thinks it is okay to behead a random person? Sydney is host to many crimes and criminals. Some individuals and groups think its okay to beat, shoot, stab, torture and kill both random and non random innocents- regardless of beliefs. Yet those people do not need helicopters, dogs, an 800 strong police team, raids and the media to keep their intended crimes under control.

The map highlighting the Sydney Suburbs raided in order to formally charge one person.

The map highlighting the Sydney Suburbs raided in order to formally charge one person.

To all reasonable and logical people out there, continue living your lives in this beautiful country and do not fear. Please, do not fear because that eventually causes a schizophrenic irrationality where people suddenly think its okay to hold up signs that say “Burquas(sic) or Bikinis- you decide“. PEOPLE actually believe this! That 2% of the population will suddenly overpower them and force them to don a Burqa on the Golden sands of the Gold Coast. The Qur’an has a very famous and often repeated quote that we could all dwell into and understand– regardless of our beliefs- or lack thereof.

And every soul earns not blame except against its own self, and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. ” (Quran 6:164)

So let us stop regular every day people bearing the burdens of extremists. We are all individual. It’s as simple as that.

Peace, Salam

Great to see real journalism at work. one thing, throw away that catch phrase of “conspiracy theories”. That phrase is used to discredit “real journalism” and questioning the state controlled media.

    Hear! Hear! Well said 🙂

  2. ATTENTION to:- RAMIO1983

Tally ho. Well said. You have hit the bulls eye!!!!!!

Ha, ha, ha. When I read your post in another Forum, I gave you the benefit of the doubt that you were not muslim, so came and read your post.

You commenced talking about the terrorist raids in Sydney:-
“As i went to work i saw peoples faces glued to the television sets, making comments among one another and certainly i saw the fear creeping up to their eyes after hearing about these ISIS supporters planning a random beheading in the streets of Sydney, and after what happened in the streets of London, for a moment i understood their concerns.”
A slight correction, it was DEFINITELY NOT FEAR CREEPING into their eyes.” [of peace-loving Australians] but DISGUST, DISAPPOINTMENT, DISBELIEF, INGRATTITUDE that we, as a Nation of sympathetic people who abhor reading/seeing o\n TV other Nations being made refugees from their own country, losing all their possessions, meagre as they may be, who cannot live in peace as we USED TO. Yet we extended the hand of friendship, peace, and an invitation to come join us.

Australia welcomed all Nations and Religions from the day Australia was founded. It was not until we began accepting people from Africa then the Middle East who were predominantly of the muslim “faith” that things turned nasty.

Australia should have looked more deeper into how they react in their own countries. War, fighting, never living in peace. We see muslims are against the Jewish, the Christian, anyone whoever shares a border with them. Whenever they are 100% muslim and no one else, they fight sect against sect, Sunni against Shiite, etc. It seems as though fighting, arguing, continually making trouble is part of their culture.

Now that muslims are here in numbers some – please note, NEVER do I mean ALL MUSLIMS!!! Some are pro-terrorism – even your imams are preaching hatred towards Australia inside our own country despite all our handouts to you without your ever having added a single thing to our Society.

I would like to ask you to be reasonable, but obviously you are like the bad section who never want anything more than everything free.

Those who wish to fight for a still un-recognised country or state, who are using fear , torture, beheadings against its own people and all those in close proximity in an effort to takeover territory and declare an new state I AGREE WITH YOU, AUSTRALIA SHOULD ALLOW THEM TO GO- on the proviso that they take their family with them, surrender their passports AND NEVER TRY TO RETUN TO AUSTRALIA.

    • ramio1983 says:

I very well did hit the bullseye and me being Muslim means nothing, there are so many Non Muslims that agree. Everything that you said actually does not address the issue at all. You are dancing around the real issue by station personal emotional facts. Your “love it or leave it” mantra has been said before and will be said again by the likes of you. Yet that doesn’t address a single issue i have raised with my points. This was about the terror raids in Sydney, their over the top media hype and its dissenting influence upon the people. The majority of Muslims are integrated and the lack of integration is simply a result of people like you who are intolerant of others.

No Muslim that i have met has ever talked about changing Australias laws nor stomped their feet in demands. You’re doing a great a fantastic job at being the fearful “well wisher” but that mirage cannot hide your underlying issue. My article provided precise points with reliable references and you did not address a single point besides your scripted attempt at trying to sound reasonable, but believe me you are not reasonable.

      • Tom says:

Well Ramio, where do I start? Your blog and some of your comments are quite disappointing, because you aren’t stupid. You try to give the impression that you are fair minded but in some ways you are far from it.

•Your assertion that it’s everyone else’s responsibility to understand Muslims:
How can you understand them when you can’t get near them, they are so segregated? Many Muslim parents send their kids to Muslim schools and don’t allow them to associate with no Muslims for fear of outside influence corrupting them and don’t try to tell me otherwise because it’s true. Muslims are forever putting up barriers (physical and psychological) making it very difficult for the average Joe to know and trust them. Many Muslim women aren’t allowed in the same room as another man without the husband being present and a non Muslim forget about it, and for fear of what? All that many Australians see a brick wall which is hardly friendly or welcoming. This spells out that they want to remain segregated, play the race card or deflect blame any time criticism is directed at them and the cycle continues, nothing will ever change while this happens. Sometimes imagination is worse than reality and with these images of Muslims from our own country proudly holding up severed heads, the perceived secrecy of Muslims makes it easier to believe that there could be more people like this living here, as far from reality as this is.

•Over the Top Police Tactics: Maybe, though it only takes one person to kill hundreds/thousands of people. The chance of being wrong can’t be taken. Instead of blaming Police, blame the people who brought the spotlight onto the community.

•Bigots:Your view that anyone who doesn’t agree with you is a bigot, these are your opinions not facts, don’t be so arrogant. You probably think anyone disagreeing with with you is a rum swilling, foul mouthed, southern cross tatted Anglo bogan from with a “fuck off we’re full” sticker on their Holden ute. It’s not always that simple.

•The comment that people supporting dangerous terrorist groups online (morally or otherwise) have committed no real crime. That’s like saying it’s ok to posses child pornography, as long as you didn’t participate. The point is that it is morally wrong as a human being, forget religion to sympathise with such people. Anyone who thinks like that does not fit into any society.

Lastly• not related to this: I’ve seen your comments else about Aboriginal land being taken from them by the Brits. It happened, it was cruel and unfair. The Brits were real assholes. For you to get on your high horse about this is a bit rich as your very existence came about from your migrant parents not only being welcomed here by descendants of Anglo land thieves, but enjoying everything that they had established. If we all thought that way then we may as well all dig up our streets, knock down our houses and sail out of here. Sorry that means you have go too.

      • ramio1983 says:

        1) You tell me that Muslims are segregated and are difficult to get near or to speak to in society. That is a terrible exaggeration. Muslims are teachers, doctors, lawyers, supermarket attendants, security guards, policemen and women, charity workers and neighbours- that is scraping the bottom of the barrel. Muslims are 500,000 strong in Australia and they are everywhere and your theory is a lazy one.

Getting to know a Muslim is easy, i have a huge connection of friends who are extremely close to me and i made myself open to them and they come from different races and religions. In fact i’d say not seeing, meeting or knowing a Muslim in any main city in Sydney is unavoidable.

Your claim of “many Muslim women” cannot be near men in any way shape or form is unsubstantiated. Where do you get “many” from? This is just an assertion, again my reality has shown that Muslim women are in the workforce and do NOT have their husbands by their sides. Do you live in some remote country town, or in regional Australia? There is no way you are a city boy with a view like that.

It all comes down to the chicken or the egg, what came first? The Muslims refusing to integrate or the Muslims failing to integrate due to them not being accepted by the patriotic Australians who demand they “shake their hands”, “speak their language” and “take off their burkas”. You tend to think Muslims refuse to initially integrate whilst ignoring the possibility that their lack of integration is a REACTION to a lack of acceptance by society.

Where have i made the claim that anyone who doesnt agree with me is a bigot? I have never said that. The reality is the people that are disapprove of my views are typically the fear mongering, flag waving bigots- yes- bigots that yell at Australian born Muslims to “go back to where you came from”.

You are wrong, child pornography is an ACTUAL crime. Being an online troll is not. Posting pictures of ISIS or questioning American interests and foreign policies and asking for scrutiny on the happenings of events doesn’t neccessarily make one a terrorist, or an assailant for such activity. I am Anti ISIS but i am also severely Anti US foreign policy, i dont have to choose between them, they’re both evil in their own ways.

Yes i condemn the way the Aboriginals were treated, but never do i diss the outcome of our society. Yes, my parents came here and were only “welcome” in the mid 1970s when finally the “White Australia Policy” had been abolished. Dont pretend that this anglo society was welcoming, it only happened to be 30-40 years ago and that was due to “populate or perish” fear mongering as opposed to actually wanting to welcome the others.

I know our history very well.I love your final comment to, a passive aggressive “go back to where you came from” claiming i should get out of Australia too because i dismiss its lack of evolution.

      • What the hell do you mean by “diss”???
Ramio1983:- (7th paragraph) “Yes i condemn the way the Aboriginals were treated, but never do i diss the outcome of our society.
        Wassudoc2014

      • Tom says:

Ramey – you are a walking, talking contradiction .
“Yes i condemn the way the Aboriginals were treated, but never do i diss the outcome of our society. ”
“I know our history very well.I love your final comment to, a passive aggressive “go back to where you came from” claiming i should get out of Australia too because i dismiss its lack of evolution.”
So you don’t diss the outcome of our society, yet you dismiss it’s lack of evolution? I would call that a rather emphatic “diss” of the outcome.

You deliberately misconstrued my point about the guilt trip laid on by you regarding British settlers treatment of Aboriginals to paint me as a racist. Maybe I was too subtle so here I go again: The plight and unfairness of the Aboriginal people’s treatment is a well documented, well trodden subject that all fair minded Anglo Australians can acknowledge. Yours and every other non indigenous Australian’s existence here is a product of this shameful past and we all share it. At some stage we have to move on from this (not forget it). The only analogy I can give to your point of view is that it’s like buying stolen goods cheap whilst at the same time saying that you hate thieves.

Seeing as we all theoretically have no right to be here, you are in the same boat (no pun intended), and are in no position to point the finger.
I’m not being passive aggressive at all, If I were telling you to go back where you came from where would I be apparently be telling you go? In my eyes, you were born here and call yourself an Australian so you belong here as much as I do.

Trying to use the past as leverage to discredit and smear all present Anglo Australians who disagree with you as racist, just to try and “win” arguments is low. You know that mud sticks and that if you can get a few people believing it, any further commentary by that person is written off, then you have the moral high ground. Pat on the back Ramey, you showed them.

The idea of a blog is to invite discussion, not make outlandish statements then get all indignant when people don’t agree.

    • timbo says:

You’re a first class bigoted idiot.

I’m not Muslim, but I’ve had the good fortune to work with a number of them, mainly from places such as Iraq and Afghanistan, and I couldn’t have worked with a finer bunch of people. I’ve also traveled to Muslim countries, and you couldn’t find friendlier and more hospitable people, nor walk around at night as a male or female feeling far safer than you would in a typical western metropolis, particularly places like the USA. Unlike so many of the stereotypes, they are basically as normal as the rest of us, and contrary to the media-driven frenzy regarding their faith most are as laid-back and casual about their beliefs as the rest of us. Many people would even be surprised to learn how casual many Muslims are about drinking alcohol, as the Koran basically lays down the same law as the bible on the matter – contrary to popular belief, it isn’t forbidden, but basically frowned upon in terms of getting drunk. And contrary to the ignorance you’ve put on display, the Muslim faith actually preaches tolerance, and of the three middle-eastern faiths – Christianity, Judaism, and Muslim – has always shown far more acceptance of its rival faiths than the other two. I suggest you hit the history books to actually learn how much they’ve been religiously persecuted and insulted, used, and abused through the years by western society and their corporations, especially their major oil cartels, and how they have hundreds of years of double-dealing and broken promises to draw upon to feed the enmity of the few who choose to take their gripes to extreme levels. The very nature of how many of the middle eastern countries actually exist today as states in the modern world harks back to colonial geographic divisions of the area based purely on the western European land grab of times long past, rather than along more natural ethnic and cultural lines, thus bequeathing them the numerous factions and friction that cause such internal strife.

Like any society or faith, there will always be a small radicalized segment who lean towards extremism, but that can just as easily apply to Christians, Jews, and Hindus, as well as people divided by national borders or ethnicity. How many Muslims now live in Australia – 300,000? As a percentage of their population, the fact a hundred or so might be involved overseas in fighting represents what, 0.03% of their numbers? This is enough to justify your rant that the whole lot should be shipped back home? I guess the fact that Martin Bryant is of Anglo origins we should all basically get out and hand the country back to the native Australians, or should we just do a basic head count of racist Australians to see if we’re worthy of booting ourselves out?

While the authorities should have the right to do their utmost to protect our society, the simple fact is that this kind of over-the-top reaction too the radicalism of one individual, plus the anti-Muslim frenzy that ensued in the media, does nothing more than abuse the basic rights and freedoms of the vast majority of Muslim Australians who are decent law-abiding citizens, as well as doing its utmost to radicalize a few more and swell the ranks of those looking to link up to extremist groups.

The notion that a handful of Muslims taking extremist views within our borders is something radical and to be shocked over is almost laughable. From the day this country was created we’ve always had our fair share of squabbles and enmity along cultural lines and historic gripes, whether it be those of convict origins versus the authorities of the time, the Irish Catholics against the English protestants, right through to the entrenched fear, loathing and racism of our Asian neighbours, particularly the Japanese after WWII, and the old ethnic animosities many European immigrants brought with them during the 50’s and 60’s, not least the Greeks and their long memories of centuries of Turkish occupation, Serbs versus Croats, and so on.

At times like this we really need to show tolerance and understanding, not demonization of an entire body of people based on the actions of a very few. And it would certainly help matters immeasurably if morons like you actually went out and read up a little on the subject matter instead of leaping on a rickety soap box mired down in the quicksand of your colossal ignorance.

      • Reply to TIMO Part two

TIMO:- “ – – – and contrary to the media-driven frenzy regarding their faith most are as laid-back and casual about their beliefs as the rest of us.

WASSUP.DOC2014:- Ah yes – laying back on your soft pillows in a tent while a soft breeze blows (OK, if you prefer – in a modern house) listening to your favourite popular songs or watching your favourite television shows comedy shows with your friends and women (these discretely covered from head to toe in black hijab with just a slit for her to see through – or worse, a further black veil to prevent her seeing clearly).

TIMO:- “Many people would even be surprised to learn how casual many Muslims are about drinking alcohol – – -”

WASSUP.DOC2014:- No, I WOULD NOT be surprised Timo:

#1. I WOULD BE SURPRISED at those who honestly PREFERRED to wear sombre, black clothing, continually racing to finish their work before the next “call to prayer” and

#2. As for drinking alcohol I HAVE SEEN how Arabs/muslims react once they are away from the retrictions of their own country for example in India!!!) They did not mind others seeing them drinking alcohol in restaurants or smelling of alcohol (who, back in their own country would not dare drink alcohol – if they could even buy it there – legally). They were so obvious, wearing their DASHINGLY ATTRACTIVE long white gowns*** with the head piece and black rope. This is said with utmost respect, as it would be very comfortable in the dessert heat, unfortunately, the same could not be said for the sombre black burka men FORCE their women to wear).
***My apologies, I tried to find out its correct name\the clothing without success. The closest I could find is “Galabiyya”, but no word for the headpiece or black rope. Possibly the black rope distinguishes which actual country they came from???

TIMO:- “as the Koran basically lays down the same law as the bible on the matter – – -“

WASSUP.DOC2014:- Please excuse me for forgetting this – but could you remind me of what part of the Holy Bible does it EVER MENTION the name of mohammed???

However, I have read in the holy qur’ān and noted Jesus [Christ] (Son of Mary) is mentioned in 14 sections. Oh, my mistake!!! mohammed was not born until a further 500 years later. THAT IS WHY mohammed WAS ABLE TO “borrow” Jesus Christ’s preachings whenever he decided to “change his mind!”

Of course mohammed often changed his mind – and muslims have their own word for
that change – محمد غير رأيه – whenever he realised his followers did not like the ideas of love and peace which Jesus Christ preached, so he changed his mind to ideas of fighting, of war and such which the people of those times understood and preferred. What other God would have done this seeing God Himself. made man in his own likeness?

I have learned several things from your reply, yet I wonder how true these really are? Let me see now – – – and please correct me whenever I am wrong:-

TIMO:- “ – – – it [alcohol] isn’t forbidden, but basically frowned upon in terms of getting drunk.

WASSUP.DOC2014:- This is the same in most Nationalities.

      • PART THREE

Another apology. Sorry Timbo, I have missed one letter from your name

TIMBO:- “And contrary to the ignorance you’ve put on display, the Muslim faith actually preaches tolerance, and of the three middle-eastern faiths – Christianity, Judaism, and Muslim”

WASSUP.DOC2014:- U & I Timbo, must use a different dictionary. My copy of Merriam Webster describes the word “tollerance” as :- “noun : willingness to accept feelings, habits, or beliefs that are different from your own.”

Again, if this is the same as your interpretation, please correct my following thoughts:- Why are the Islamic Nations always fighting against the recognised Nation of Israel, who are living in the land that Yahweh (Israel’s name for God) gave them? muslims have continually fought with Israel who returned to *their land* after the Second World War. Even if muslims say the Jews left that land and they simply made use of it, God gave that land to them 500+ years before mohammed was even a twinkle in his father’s eye!!!

Why is it muslims are continually fighting against ANY other religion which is close to their borders? And then, whenever there is no other religion around will even fight (NOT ARGUE but actually KILL) followers of islam’s own sects, sunni against shiite and its MANY OTHER sects? (see a little later for sects of islam)

Why do muslims have the attitude “the only good Christian is a dead one?

Why is it that Christians who live in a islamic Nation are forced to live in ghettos for security in numbers? I have observed this in predominatly muslim Nations, Indonesia, Malaysia. They are regularly attacked and their Churches burned down.

Why, when TIMO says:- “And contrary to the ignorance you’ve put on display, the Muslim faith actually preaches tolerance, and of the three middle-eastern faiths – Christianity, Judaism, and Muslim – has always shown far more acceptance of its rival faiths than the other two.” Is this in your holy qur’ān?

You Timbo, are simply copying (another trait of mohammed) others claiming to be the ones who are being attacked, yet the truth is far from fact. Let us take as an example of he terrorists from Iraq calling themselves islamic state. State? State of which country? Just like the “country” of Palestine. There is no Palestinian State or Country, just as there is no islamic state. They are simply a gang of murderous thugs – killing, pillaging, beheading (unless Christians and even other muslims converted to THEIR ideas of islam) claiming land that they never owned.

You Timbo, have identified why this is so by using one particular word which I shall capitalise to draw attention to it.

TIMBO:- “the Muslim faith actually preaches tolerance, and of the three middle-eastern faiths – Christianity, Judaism, and Muslim – has always shown far more acceptance of its RIVAL faiths than the other two.” You even consider sunni, shiite, hadiths, sufism, wahhabis, kharijites – are your RIVALS – not your brothers.

There are numerous islamic sects (see:- http://www.muslimhope.com/SectsOfIslam.htm
if you want more sects and information on this.

(AN ASIDE out of curiosity and something I never knew.) This comes from that same islamic site scroll down to “Wahhabis – Focus on the Original Source”:-

“Many of the Muslims in the World Trade Center plane crashes and the al-Qaeda were Wahhabis. Early Muslims tortured people and gouged out their eyes, so if an extremist is one who greatly deviates from the original teaching, peaceful liberal Muslims are at least as much “extremists” in Islam as the violent Wahhabis.”

TIMBO:- “I suggest you hit the history books to actually learn how much they’ve been religiously persecuted and insulted, used, and abused through the years by western society and their corporations.”

WASSUPDOC2014:- One word I would suggest used to show what was being done to muslims is “ridiculed” – how could any one with any sense follow a leader who kept changing his mind???

WASSUPDOC2014:- Continually blaming somebody else! The younger generation of all Nations cannot blame their forefathers for the mess the world is in RIGHT NOW. There must be a limit in time to laying blame. Instead of whinging about it, correct it. By that I DO NOT SUGGEST you start trying to change Australia. You have no rights to make change HERE in Australia – although your SUGGESTIONS would be OK.

      • ANOTHER APOLOGY Sorry for missing one character from your name Timbo.

In the “Good Old Days” a worker (if lucky) was paid a shekel or a penny or a brass razoo for many hours, days or weeks work whereas nowadays workers receive possibly $1000 per week of less than 40 hours in five days. They are even given holidays. Were the pyramid builders as fortunate?

TIMBO:- “Like any society or faith, there will always be a small radicalized segment who lean towards extremism – – -“

WASSUP.DOC2014:- At last we find a point-of-view that we BOTH AGREE upon!!! Yes, even Christianity has its maniac fringe eg Jim Jones who took his “flock” to Guyana. We have other similar groups here, too.

        (Jonestown see:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwkqjjffzEk

The criminals behind the islamic state are only a small radicalised segment of muslims!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just the same as the number of muslims in Australia who wish to fight with those terrorists are few in number. That it why I say let them go and fight, however, they must NEVER, EVER RETURN TO AUSTRALIA. Their Australian passports should be confiscated as they leave and replaced with a “Right to Travel Permit” – ONE WAY. Go – take all you family, even your parents and relatives – all with the same stipulation never ever to return. Unfortunately when some arrive ready for the fight with the rebels and then they realise what a tragic mistake they have made they want to be allowed back. Others appeal to the Australian Embassies to help them get back “home”. I was born in Australia. Please forgive me.” They should be arrested and kept in prison charged with terrorism.

TIMBO:- “How many Muslims now live in Australia – 300,000? As a percentage of their population, the fact a hundred or so might be involved overseas in fighting represents what, 0.03% of their numbers? This is enough to justify your rant that the whole lot should be shipped back home?

WASSUP.DOC2014:- Timbo! Timbo!! Timbo!!! Yes, I will accept your estimate of 300,000 muslims living in Australia – – – (LEGALLY). There could be another several thousand who have arrived as tourists and simply over-stayed their visas, or arrived by boats that managed to evade out Coastal Patrols.

Again you try to falsify numbers: You said “the fact a hundred or so might be involved overseas in fighting represents what, 0.03% of their numbers.” A hundred or so MIGHT – – – ha, ha, ha. You had to add “might”!!! How about the 100’s MORE still in Australia hat have been stopped or and still are looking for ways to get there??? How about the ones who are funnelling money to the terrorists? How about the muslims who are using those people who do the funnelling of funds? How about the family, friends, neighbours, acquaintances who know those would-be terrorist’s plans YET DO NOT report this to Authorities plans, the list could go on and on.

Please cut and paste from ANY OF MY POSTS where I say the words to any post:- “that THE WHOLE LOT (my capitalisation) should be shipped back home?” I have NEVER said “the whole lot should be shipped back”. It is not and never has been even from early colonial days of the Afghan camel traders until now with muslim refugees. It is the older generations who have realised their good fortune and settled into the Australian way of life to a certain degree. The younger generation, however, have not wished to integrate into our society, they have possibly listened to the radical thoughts of some imams (Sheikk Abdul Salam Zoud and the ever-changeable Cleric Sheik mohammed Omran), other rebel-minded youths (Zak Mallah), and adults (Jack Roche and Willie Brigite), even visiting tourists (Indonesian Abu Bakar Bashir) all preaching hatred for Australia, Australians and everything Australian.

Timbo, you should not be surprised when I ask the simple question, “if we are not to your liking, WHY STAY HERE?

Again you change the focus. You bring in Martyn Bryant of the Port Arthur (Tasmania) massacre. (NOT a muslim, either.) What a very sad individual. His trouble was never religious-orientated, it was simply this: Martyn Bryant was a lonely youth who simply could not or would not mix with youths of his own age. In fact it was only one other person, a woman who befriended him. They were possibly made for each other as friends, not lovers. Possibly she did not have any friends, either. When she passed away, she left him a huge bounty which came from the Tattersall’s Lottery Founder, George Tattersall (Tatts originated in Hobart, Tasmania) before moving to Victoria where it really developed into a large business.

      • (sigh) ANOTHER APOLOGY – Part 1 was sent to ramio1983’s post which is following this one from Timbo.

Part FOUR of my “rant” according to Timbo

Martyn Bryant inherited not one but many millions of dollars. He knew no one who would guide his thinking as how to use that money wisely. Martyn took an interest in guns and rifles and ended up with an arsenal of fireams (so I believe) yet he had nothing he could do with them. Finally the loneliness of not having friends twisted his thinking to the extent he planned the massacre in Port Arthur which stunned all Tasmanians, quite doubtless all of Australia and even overseas.

        See this if interested:-
        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Bryant

In the 20th Century (not before) Port Arthur used to be a quiet, peaceful country town although it was founded under very shocking times as a penal colony.

Bryant went on his shooting spree murdering 35 and injuring 23 for absolutely no reason. He was sentenced to 35 life sentences plus 1,035 years without parole.

Again I agree with you Timbo. I too, was surprised that only one (so far) muslim has been charged. It is unfortunate that our Criminal Justice System often appears to work on the side of the criminal. This does not mean there were no others that should have been charged.

        I have read the book “Australian Jihad” written by Martin Chulov (2006) ISBN-13: 978 1 4050 3723 5 and ISBN-10: 1 4050 3723 7, who was a reporter for the Australian Newspaper.

This book makes very interesting reading to Australians, as Martin Chulov being a reporter had access to information normal day-to-day people never hear. Sometimes he was told things he probably should not have been told.

Unfortunately for reasons never revealed to the public the Australian Government ordered the book to be seized, removed from booksellers’ shelves, publisher’s warehouses and pulped within days of it being published. I managed to obtain a copy before they disappeared for good. Its contents are almost unbelievable except reports come from official sources both local and from overseas, bushwalkers, defectors from certain groups of rebels here in Australia and so forth.

“Australian Jihad” might be available to be read in reference libraries.

        Back to OUR SUBJECT.

TIMBO:- “While the authorities should have the right to do their utmost to protect our society, the simple fact is that this kind of “over-the-top” reaction to the radicalism of one individual, plus the anti-Muslim frenzy that ensued in the media, does APPEAR TO BE in excess. However, it is better to be overzealous rather than say later on, “We should have brought more.” Everything had to be co-ordinated at the same time. No good other friends of those arrested could send word to different places warning them.

WASSUP.DOC2014:- CORRECTION, Timbo. There ARE more than “JUST ONE individual”. If nothing else, ALL THE OTHERS arrested yet not charged ARE LINKED to this problem, and doubtless there are many, many more who were not arrested. You would realise this had you been able to read “Australian Jihad”. Like yourself I was amazed that only one person was actually charged following the huge raid throughout several States. It is unfortunate that sometimes the ACJS appears to work on the side of the criminals. This is a case of having to prove a person guilty. There is no doubt at all that all those arrested were guilty of – if nothing else – listening to plans for terrorism. They will eventually be proven guilty.

      • PART FIVE Continues:

You think that 800 Police were over the top. Doubtless you would suggest one or possibly two only should have gone to the front door and knocked. Asking politely to be allowed to enter. Ha, ha, ha, Timbo you do not seem very bright in this respect. Yes, knock and wait patiently – while the criminals escape out the back door!!! It showed how we are determined to catch out the rotten eggs. The brothers, sisters, wives and even parents of those arrested would have known what they were up to, OR AT LEAST KNEW they had un-Australian thoughts and mixing with radical elements of muslim society.

TIMBO:- “- – – does nothing more than abuse the basic rights and freedoms of the vast majority of Muslim Australians who are decent law-abiding citizens,”

WASSUPDOC2014:- Drag out the “abuse of basic rights.” Seriously? You know how criminals abuse their basic right yet demand them for protection.

WASSUP.DOC2014:- How many times do I need to say – TO AGREE WITH YOU – THAT THE WOULD-BE TERRORISTS ARE A MINORITY!!! The extremists are a minority – the would-be terrorists are a minority – the extremists are a minority – the would-be terrorists are a minority – get it????

You appear to be INCAPABLE TO ACCEPT that it is for the most part throughout this World mainly only muslim communities where there is continual war, after war, after war – where there is fighting – where there is constant turmoil. That is only from amongst muslim communities who have ideas of decapitation – beheadings, with the hope to cause fear amongst the remainder of the community. It is always muslim-related. This is foreign to Australians.

TIMO:- “- – – the Irish Catholics against the English protestants”.

WASSUP.DOC2014:- Again you try and introduce things that have nothing to do with Australia and our peaceful way of life. NEVER, EVER has there been any animosity INSIDE AUSTRALIA between those two branches of Christianity. (OK, so one group has a better raffle prize than the other! Grow up!!!)

This ridiculous situation is completely confined to people in Ireland, and generally in only one section of that country.

I would like to take you to task over your comments about racism, especially after World War II and the Japanese, but this Post is already far too long.

Muslims have unfortunately followed the same mistakes of earlier “refugees” from Europe after that WWII (said and meant in a heart-warming manner). They began forming into enclaves, taking over suburbs rather than integrating with Australia’s population. Yet we displayed understanding with them. Yes, we joked between ourselves and had nicknames for each Nationality, but eventually Greeks, Italians, British, Dutch, Belgians, and eventually even German, etc, etc, began to live amongst us.

By giving them a nickname is was a sign they had been accepted and were loved.

muslims unfortunately, have chosen to remain in their own suburbs with few joining in with us. It is these sudden, viscous attacks overseas which show some – SOME, please note, Timbo – muslims actually agree with and want to even fight alongside the terrorists. They even teach their children how to treat those with different ideas by beheading them.

      • – – – and finally PART SIX

This simply is not the Australian way, but if those radicals wish to go, they have my support to be permitted to leave – but do not ever seek Australia’s help or finances or assistance to get you back here. EVEN IF YOU WERE BORN IN AUSTRALIA!!! They have proven themselves to be ungrateful for the assistance they have already been given. There are many, many thousands if not millions of other refugees who are eager to come here, AND POSSIBLY MORE DESERVING THAN THOSE WHO JUMPED THE QUEUE. They waited patiently inside refugee camps in their own country, a neighbouring country, or somewhere a little safer than their homeland. They did not waste what money they had to pay people-smugglers (quite often other muslins themselves) to have them sneak in by Australia’s back door to jump the queue.

You yourself Timbo, should very well re-read your first sentence in the final paragraph again only this time think of it as ”This is what ***I*** should be doing.”

TIMBO:- “At times like this we really need to show tolerance and understanding, not demonization of an entire body of people based on the actions of a very few.”

WASSUPDOC@2014::- Will some OTHER reader who knows Timbo, please tell him in whatever language he understands I NEVER MEAN ALL muslims are like this!?!?!?!? Actually is is because of the minority I have show no respect to the MAJORITY od MUSLIMS bu always using a lowercase “M”.

WASSUP.DOC2014:- Timbo, I sincerely hope you have noticed that – unlike yourself – I did not resort to trying to insult you.

For your information: I am third generation Australian. My Great Grandparents came from England on the early ships as settlers. My Grandfather came from Germany and settled in Australia marrying an Australian. He was put into an interment camp during the war because of his German heritage, yet not one of our Family least of all my Grandfather ever held a grudge against the Australian Govt for this. He had been a seafarer from 14 years of age, lost his Brother at sea off a four-master clipper. He was the only person in his home town in Australia who was brave enough to climb up the mast to the crow’s nest to carry out repairs on clipper ships.

However, YES, it took many years for us to forgive the Japanese for trying to bring war to our shores.

That was a long way in the past.

        Amen. Wassupdoc2014.

    • Andrea L says:

      Wassupdoc2013:

“we, as a Nation of sympathetic people”

Sympathetic? We’ve historically been horrible to each new group of immigrants, until the next group turned up, at which point we would change our focus to vilify the newer arrivals.

“It was not until we began accepting people from Africa then the Middle East who were predominantly of the muslim “faith” that things turned nasty.”

White Australians never did anything “nasty”, right? Definitely never destroyed a culture that was here first. And if you believe Australia has only just started “allowing” Muslims into this country, you might “look more deeper” into the history of the Afghan cameleers (not that they were particularly welcomed by white Australians, as you claim).

Should we have barred immigrants from Northern Ireland following The Troubles? Or from most of western Europe, given the long and bloody history of Protestant-Catholic violence? Oh wait, we’ve always been iffy about non-British migrants, even if they were fleeing the greatest persecution:

“Realising the unhappy plight of German and Austrian Jews, they have been included on a pro rata basis comparable with that of any other country […] undue privileges cannot be given to one particular class of non-British subjects without injustice to others. It will no doubt be appreciated also that as we have no real racial problem, we are not desirous of importing one.”
      – Thomas White, Minister for Trade and Customs, 1938

      • Hello, Andrea L
        THIRD TRY
Nice to see you with a new name, Timbo. Unfortunately your posts are still the same – mixing so many OTHER problems and TRYING to blame Australia. sigh
        Keep posting.
        WASSUPDOC2014

      • Andrea L says:

You actually think I’m impersonating someone else? Can you not accept that two distinct people in the world might disagree with your views?

    • Jojo says:

I’m sure some Indigenous people would disagree with your statement that things turned nasty AFTER Australia was ‘founded’, aka invaded. If you research into the Frontier Wars you will see genocide and enslavement being committed by our glorious white ancestors against people they saw as less than human.

      • JOJO, eventually we have to stop blaming faults of past generations on the present generation!

For example, the slaves who built the magnificent temples, pyramids and sphinxes, the people who black birded natives from Africa taking them to the new country of North America for the cotton fields and, yes, the stolen generation of the Australian Aborigines.

People cannot use today’s thinking on centuries past. One has become more understanding.

If it wasn’t England who founded (“invaded” if you must) Terra Australis, the Spanish, the Portuguese, the Dutch. or even the Italian Governments sent their seamen out searching new territories. Would the Aborigines have been given as good as – or better than that of the British? Compare these countries today to Australia. I do not think so.

Very briefly, the “stolen generation” happened with the intention of teaching the young Aborigines modern life as against their remaining hunters and gatherers. To protect them and instil knowledge adapt to the then “modern’ life.

    • Jamie says:

“Australia welcomed all Nations and Religions from the day Australia was founded. It was not until we began accepting people from Africa then the Middle East who were predominantly of the muslim “faith” that things turned nasty.” Your facts are wrong. We have had problems with many new immigrants: Irish, English, Croatian, Serbian, Asian, African, Christians, Non Christians, Muslims and Jews. We also had a policy called the white Australia Policy and we weren’t always excepting of all nations. So please educate yourself, get your facts correct and step down from the soap box.

  3. Sad Aussie in Sad Situation says:

you would be reimbursed for a flight being missed under those circumstances dont preach media lies and then follow them up with more yourself. I am sorry a coffee was thrown in that ladies face and these people were treated so poorly with these raids. Nobody deserves that…. At the end of the day this is the result of an ongoing pressure from one group of people to another to not only live in communities together but divide in how they live and what they believe. I feel that if Australia turned to shit and there were asylum seekers looking to relocate to Iran/Middle east. Our way of life would be forfitted in return for the relocation security and improvement on way of life. This is not something people have felt the need to do in Aus. You get some asylum seekers who actively promote and proudly state they are Australian, but then you get these communities that are 2nd or 3rd generation Australian children who say there are not Australian due to their heritage…. It was always going to come to a head if neither side wanted to accept the other for who they are and sadly the fact at the end of the day is that we are in Aus not Muslim countries… Islamic countries would not tollerate a western community actively denouncing and living a life that is not in line with Islamic values… why do Australians have to do the opposite for Muslims here?

PERSONALLY i wish we could thrive off both cultures and grow as a community. That clearly is not working here in Aus, if you want to escape this persecution and anger there is an easy way to do this…. proudly be Australian and embrace/promote their way of life. I am saddened that this is the case as i said i would rather both could live in harmony and learn from each others values and nobody be forced to make this choice… the world is not perfect tho and this is the easy solution as opposed to sitting and complaining/causing more hate by defying this fact

    • G’day, Sad Aussie in a Sad Situation.

It would appear your post has been added to the wrong thread.

What does it have to do with the posts above?

      I **AM** CURIOUS.!

    • Edward Bahr says:

How very, very true Sad Aussie.

It never was the older generation. Even back in Colonial days of Australia the Afghan camel traders lived in harmony with us. Then Australia began allowing in muslim refugees. In the beginning they resettled well, but when their children began to grow up, they listened to the radical elements of their imams who preached too much of their old-style and how Australia repressed this, how fighting for one’s rights was the correct thing to do, it was THEIR HERITAGE

This instilled a nationalistic pride in the young muslims and they thought of having a good old-fashioned fight/war WITH GUNS sounded exciting. Just imagine cutting off one’s enemy’s head!!! the younger generation did not see that that was the very reason they were living in Australia and not their homeland. Their Parents had realised this simply was not the ideal life so came here.

      • Andrea L says:

Hey Edward Bahr AKA wassupdoc2014, bit rich of you to accuse me of using an alias after doing so yourself.

  4. Great article. Great to see another opinion on the matter.

  5. pulster says:

cut to the chase, dob in an Islamic extremist living in Australia. Muslims have faith and love the country you live in!

    • wassupdoc2014 says:

I’ll drink to that, Pulster. I’d say the Australian Govt SHOULD let the !@#$%^&’s who want to fight with the terrorists go – – – provided they give up their Australian passports and positively NEVER return to Australia, even when they realise the big mistake they have made. :-)) Wassupdoc2014

  6. ExAJ says:

Yet funny, you make no mention of the Muslim ISIS supporter going to the police station with the intention of beheading the police officers and draping their bodies in an ISIS flag to take photos for propaganda.

    • ramio1983 says:

If you’re referring to the 18 year old shot dead-That’s not what happened at all. Get your facts right and get off the drug called Murdoch. It’s getting to your head. Do you want to know what happened?

      • love how people choose to run their mouths before gathering enough information to make a logic statement. logic/10

      • I AGREE WITH ramio1983!!!!!!

Who can believe the Murdoch Press – just one man pushing his own ideals because he own so many newspapers, and television stations.

SINCERELY and please, ramio1983, WHAT IS THE TRUTH about the 18-year-old young man who was murdered by the Police? (In English, not Arabic if you send the reply as a URL or newspaper site.)

Yes, I DO want to know what happened.

      • monkey blake says:

To be fair he was shot after stabbing two cops, if he was black, white,Chinese or purple stabbing cops will get you shot, the police were justified in their actions.

      • Monkey Blake is 100% correct.
The 18-year-old was “invited” to Police Headquarters to explain a previous problem he had with the Police.
So he is DEFINITELY NOT as innocent as
When he came he had armed with a knife and began attacking the two Policemen without provocation.
Serves him right. He got his just desserts.
Police are there to keep us safe. They get all the nasty things to do usually without gratitude.
The Public should support them rather than continually criticise the Police.
Ramio1983 said in his post above about the same subject:- “Do you want to know what happened?”
I requested to be told? Ramio 1983 never responded.
        wassupdoc2014

      • G’day Ramio 1983.
YOU ASKED:- “Do you want to know what happened?” in your post of Sept. 25 regarding the 18-year-old being shot dead by Poilce.
I replied agreeing with you in that we cannot believe the Murdoch Press and asking to be told the truth.
Yet you have not bothered to respond.
Does this mean Murdoch WAS TELLING THE TRUTH?
Did you think I was joking? NO! I AM SUSPICIOUS of Murdoch. Such a man should not hold so much power!!!
Would you care to inform ALL READERS OF YOUR POSTS what is the actual truth regarding that young man?

    • wassupdoc2014 says:

      Right on, ExAJ ! ! !

Those supporting the extremists in Iraq are very quick to shout out their abuse, but whenever they are questioned go surprisingly silent

Ramio 1983:- September 25, 2014 at 5:53 (just below your post) said:- “If you’re referring to the 18 year old shot dead-That’s not what happened at all. Get your facts right and get off the drug called Murdoch. It’s getting to your head. Do you want to know what happened?”

My reply to Ramio 1983 asking to be informed of “the truth” received deathly silence!!! Surprise, surprise – ha, ha, ha.

  7. RevRon says:

I think the problem for a lot of Australians has been the conspicuous silence of Muslim leaders when they should have spoken up against the radicals years ago; thus showing that they were embracing their new country and it’s values.
Could have saved a lot of suspicion and distrust then, but I suspect it will be a lot harder now.

    • astrostevo says:

@ ^ Rev Ron : “Conspicupous silence” Really? Only if you have had your ears and eyes blocked and not done the slightest checking of this claim ever!

      • @ astrostevo – You have misunderstood. I am not talking about the leaders speaking up this week, they were needed years ago – and relations could have been cemented without the tensions of today.
I long for good relations between all Australians no matter what their background or religion. Leaders from every walk of life should strive for that in a multi-cultural society.

      • ramio1983 says:

You are being too vague. What specific event or events were Muslims and their leaders not swift enough to publicly condemn? As far as I’m aware they were just as spoken then as they were now and the idea that Muslims are silent about these things only further causes problems.

      • Sorry, arsetrostevo, YOU ARE WRONG!!! and RevRonRon Johnson is BORRECT!!!!!!

Your leaders did not come out soon enough to condemn these and similar actions many years ago when they first started.

I have been reading about similar problems amongst the islamic community since the beginning of this century – AND EVEN THAT WAS FAR TOO LATE – yet your leaders remained CONSPICUOUSLY SILENT with their denials.

  8. astrostevo says:

Yes, I fear you are right and I dread what might well be coming from the backlash of this beat-up and scare-mongering.

I’ve met many Muslim people in my life. They have been neighbours, they have been lecturers, fellow students and they have been friends. They have included Iranians, Bangladeshis, Gazans and Aussies. They have sometimes been obviously identifiable as Muslims, more usually not. I am not afraid of them, I am afraid for them. Not a single one of them has been a terrorist or a supporter of the sort of barbarity that the media loves to deliver in shallow soundbite gory “glory”. I feel sad that I need to actually spell that out. That’s like having to specify all the Christians I have known have been utterly repelled by NOT members of the Westboro homophobes cult or the all the atheists I have known have opposed Stalinism and not been Soviet agents. Our response to terrorism to the very few crazies committing very rare acts of disgusting hatred should never be to become hateful ourselves. We should not allow irrational fears to overwhelm us and prevent us from taking a thoughtful, calm and very well targeted response that does more good than harm not vice-versa. The correct response to ignorance is to learn and seek to understand. The correct response to fear is courage – and it is cowardly not courageous to bully others and single out those who are different and scapegoated already, to kick those who are already down and suffering and who are NOT the Problem and are NOT bad people. Every Muslim I have ever met, almost every single Muslim in Australia has done me (& everyone else I know) no harm and wishes to do me (& everyone else I know) no harm. There is too much nastiness and ignorance in this world without any of us adding to it. So please, everyone, please, remember this and act accordingly.

PS. Wow! This awesome blog is back? Excellent – wish I’d realised this earlier doh! Mea culpa.

  9. Roger says:

Whilst well written, it is a typical left wing and overly simplistic view of the situation. Just because there is only one still in custody, does not mean they are innocent, just means that our weak laws have not given the police the power to hang on to the suspects.

Whilst the right can also be overly simplistic, I wonder why the left seem to always think there is some sort of injustice being done when the police do their job. If you guys had your way, we would let anyone good or bad come here and allow them to engage in anti social behavior just because they are a minority. The silly thing is that most of the left get on their soapbox with faux outrage whenever minorities are called out for their poor behaviour claiming racism and bigotry but if you saw said minority in the street, you would cross the road to avoid them. You would also all be the first to jump up and down and ask “how could the govt let it happen?” if there was an attack on our soil.

Our govt policies overseas have made us a target to these people and no left wing peace loving policy will protect us from the backlash. Instead of getting upset about these raids and injustices, why not petition the govt to come up with better programs to force muslims to integrate with main society so people will see that the majority of Islamic people are decent people and it will also help the islamic youth feel a part of society and will not feel the need to get involved with these groups that bastardise their religeon? Oh sorry, that might not be as impressive to post

    • ramio1983 says:

You seem to have a very black and white concept of life. Are.all aspects of life to you either “left wing” or “right wing”? I don’t recognize either concept in my world views and never do I push for a certain wing. I try to remain neutral and that could be seen in all of my opinions in this blog of mine.

You keep pinning the problems and responsibilities onto the Muslims. Apparently only the Muslims are responsible for how they are perceived by certain people. At what point must these bigots. ..oh excuse me let me rephrase that, lest you accuse me of being left wing.

At what point will these flag bearing and patriotic Australians perhaps reflect and realize the problem maybe….just maybe is with how THEY perceive Muslims and not how Muslims actually are.

Overtly patriotic sissies need to be educated too. Most of all the problems we are experiencing is that we have a minority of a minority that feel isolated in society and that isolation has turned to angst. Then that minority’s actions makes a minority of the majority who are already suspicious of Muslims get angry.
In answer to your question, Muslims are responsible to ensure they are not misunderstood and a great many I have met take on that responsibility helping us non Muslims understand them.
The ones that have no interest in being a part of our society should not be here but thankfully that is the minority. I consider two Muslims my friend and have learnt a lot from them about Islam and even they say that there is a dark element in their community that needs to be stopped.

  10. Roger says:

I meant to add that just because you have read something somewhere other than a Murdoch broadsheet, does not mean it is true. Fact is NONE of us know what is going on with these raids and the kid in Melbourne etc we only know what we have read so do not come off like you are any more informed than anyone else. That just ruins your credibility. Also all you lefties please stop the typical left wing responses when someone disagrees with you “your bigoted” “your uninformed” etc etc

We all know Muslims and we all know that not all are bad. However it is undeniable that there is a dangerous element in their community that is all bad. Anything that helps a minority segregate itself from the main community should be banned and never entertained. Any muslim that subscribes to the Wahabi sect of Islam should be shown the door as they preech hate and their dedication to their religeon puts them at odds with Australian society.

I say let the govt do anything they can to stop any sort of attack from happening here. Left wing warm fuzzy rhetoric will not stop an attack. This should not stop with muslims but all members of society that want to do anyone harm.

Have to laugh at the comment that “no muslim I have met wants to do me harm” I am sure they would tell you. You are the poster child for naivety

    • ramio1983 says:

So you are willing to do ANYTHING to stop an attack from people that show no actual intent to harm you? You think you have a point that Muslims intend to hurt people but they.never admit it? People that intend harm.say.and show it all the time. All of these murderer killers that we see like school shooters, lone cell murderers and serial killers all made it clear in video diaries, physical diaries, conversations to friends and even to the police themselves that they intend to kill.

So yes it is a valid point when people say I have never met a Muslim that wanted to hurt me or change our way of life because it’s a testament to reality unlike your conspiracy of “they’re all hiding it, so let’s scrutinize them”.

      • Roger says:

Tell me where I said that all Muslims want to hurt Us? I am saying that the few that do would be unlikely to tell you upfront to your face. If you believe that is not true, then I would advise you to go and live a little before posting again. These people hide behind masks, so they are not going to tell someone in a social or work situation that they support ISIS. That does not mean that every Muslim is out to get you but the ones that are probably would not tell you.
These people that were grabbed in the raids and released were not innocent. They were released due to our weak laws. There is too much at risk for them to just pick random people, therefore there was a reason they were picked up. I believe we should give the police whatever powers they require to eliminate these people from our society. What are they contributing? Most of these people (the ones picked up not all muslims) are the lowest of the low. With no respect for our country, our laws or our people. So why should we tolerate them? I think for a 31 year old, you have a very naive view of the world and I wish you were right and there was no threat but reality states differently. I can only judge your political leanings from your posts, they scream “idealistic left winger”.

      • ramio1983 says:

These people hide behind masks? The dude that got shot was hanging with his mates at hungry jacks and Co – mingling with society hours before his death and he was mask free. So we’re the other 14 captured and released.

You claim our laws are weak and that the other 14 were not innocent (guilty). What do you base that off? A blind trust on authorities? You do know they could be wrong and unjust. Your ideals are more suitable for America. Ask all the innocent men abused and assaulted at Guantanemo Bay.

These people may have said troll like comments online, they may have watched unsavoury videos on youtube and been virtual supporters of some sort of caliphate (nor necessarily isis) but that doesn’t make them guilty of anything. There are millions of others that sound abrasives online and look up crazy stuff online but they’ve committed no crime.

I’m not naive I’m a well travelled and we’ll educated person with good life experience, I believe in true justice and not a “just incase” justice that throws everyone in prison or shows others the door.

I get that in countries such as the USA where the population triumphs that of Australia, to have uneducated people to become hysteric like this but come on…

I thought Australia was better than this.
    I’m utterly disappointed.

  12. This is a repeat post. It was either NOT sent by myself – OR refused acceptance by WordPress

    ATTENTION Timo:-

My apologies to all readers for this being so long

Without wishing to offend you Timo I trust you will permit me to reply your comment on your response to my post (hopefully above this) by piece.

TIMO:- “You’re a first class bigoted idiot.“

WASSUP.DOC2014:- Thank you for making me first class of anything.

TIMO: “I’m not Muslim, but I’ve had the good fortune to work with a number of them, mainly from places such as Iraq and Afghanistan, and I couldn’t have worked with a finer bunch of people.”

WASSUP2014:- Strange how many CLAIM NOT TO BE this, too??? You said:- “I’ve had the good fortune to work with a number of them – – -” (muslims, I take it) ‘a number’ means it could even be JUST ONE.

TIMO:- “I’ve also traveled to Muslim countries” (so have I, but not the ones where there is continual fighting),

TIMO continues:- “and you couldn’t find friendlier and more hospitable people, nor walk around at night as a male or female feeling far safer than you would in a typical western metropolis, particularly places like the USA.”

WASSUP.DOC2014:- Goodness gracious me, you MUST HAVE worked in some shocking places for those places to be WORSE THAN those two places you mention – Iraq and Afghanistan.

Curiously you EXCLUDED AUSTRALIA, so presumably our country must be pretty damn awful to you considering “you are NOT muslim”! I cannot understand why you remain in any country where it is not safe to TIMO:- “walk around at night AS A MALE OR FEMALE” (???) when you could just as easily – and MORE HAPPILY live in Iraq and Afghanistan. You are even making me feel jealous that I cannot stay there, too, although I cannot imagine how anyone would live happily in those two countries with the war going on and the fear of being killed at any time.

TIMO:- “Unlike so many of the stereotypes, they [?muslims?] are basically as normal as the rest of us,”

WASSUP.DOC2014:- By your final word in the last sentence above – “us” – I assume you only mean TRUE muslims and people with their mindset. (No, mindset is not intended to be rude) Do you mean not like us Australians who are continually rude? And by “normal” do you mean beheading those who do not necessarily agree with your viewpoint?

TIMO:- “ – – – and contrary to the media-driven frenzy regarding their faith most are as laid-back and casual about their beliefs as the rest of us.

WASSUP.DOC2014:- Ah yes – laying back on your soft pillows in a tent while a soft breeze blows (OK, if you prefer in a modern house) listening to your favourite popular songs or watching your favourite television shows comedy shows with your friends and women (these discretely covered from head to toe in black hijab and just a slit for her to see through).

TIMO:- “Many people would even be surprised to learn how casual many Muslims are about drinking alcohol – – -”

WASSUP.DOC2014:- No, I WOULD NOT be surprised Timo.

#1. I would be surprised at those who honestly PREFERRED to wear sombre, black clothing, continually racing to finish their work before the next “call to prayer” and

#2. As for drinking alcohol I HAVE SEEN how Arabs/muslims react once they are away from the restrictions of their own country for example in India!!!) They did not mind others seeing them drinking alcohol in restaurants or smelling of alcohol. They were so obvious, wearing their dashingly attractive long white gowns*** with the head piece and black rope (who, back in their own country would not dare drink alcohol – if they could even buy it there – legally).

THAT IS WHY mohammed WAS ABLE TO “borrow” Jesus Christ’s teachings whenever he decided to
    “change his mind!”

Of course mohammed often changed his mind – and muslims have their own word for that change – whenever he realised his followers did not like the ideas of love and peace which Jesus Christ preached, so he changed his mind to ideas of fighting, of war and such which the people of those times understood and preferred. What would God have done this seeing God made man in his own likeness?

I have learned several things from your reply, yet I wonder how true these really are? Let me see now – – – and please correct me whenever I am wrong:-

TIMO:- “ – – – it [alcohol] isn’t forbidden, but basically frowned upon in terms of getting drunk.

WASSUP.DOC2014:- This is the same in most Nationalities.

TIMO:- “And contrary to the ignorance you’ve put on display, the Muslim faith actually preaches tolerance, and of the three middle-eastern faiths – Christianity, Judaism, and Muslim”

WASSUP.DOC2014:- You and I Timo, must use a different Dictionary. Merriam Webster describes the word “tolerance” as:–

“noun : willingness to accept feelings, habits, or beliefs that are different from your own.”

Again, if this is the same as your interpretation, please correct my thoughts:-

Why are the Islamic Nations continually fighting against the recognised Nation of Israel, who are living in the land that Yahweh (Israel’s name for God) gave them?

Why is it muslims are continually fighting against any other religion which is close to their borders? And then, even fight (not argue but actually kill) followers of islam’s own sects, sunni against Shiite and its MANY OTHER sects?

Why do muslims have the attitude “the only good Christian is a dead one? Why is it that
Christians who live in a islamic Nation are forced to live in ghettos for security in numbers? I have observed this in predominantly muslim Nations, Indonesia, Malaysia. They are regularly attacked and their Churches burned down. Why, when Timo says:- “the Muslim faith actually preaches tolerance.” Isn’t this in your holy qur’ān?

You Timo, are simply copying (a trait of mohammed) others claiming to be the ones who are being attacked, yet the truth is far from fact. Let us take as an example of he terrorists from Iraq calling themselves islamic state. State? State of which country? Just like the “country” of Palestine. There is NO Palestinian State or Country, just as there is no islamic state. They are simply a gang of murderers – killing, pillaging, beheading (unless Christians and even other muslims converted to THEIR ideas of islam) claiming land that they never owned.

You Timo, have identified why this is so by using one particular word which I shall capitalise to draw attention to it.

TIMO:- “the Muslim faith actually preaches tolerance, and of the three middle-eastern faiths – Christianity, Judaism, and Muslim – has always shown far more acceptance of its RIVAL faiths than the other two.” You even consider sunni, shiite, hadiths, sufism, wahhabis, kharijites sects – are YOUR RIVALS, not your brothers.

There are numerous islamic sects (see http://www.muslimhope.com/SectsOfIslam.htm if you want more sects and information on this.

(AN ASIDE This comes from that islamic site- “Many of the Muslims in the World Trade Center plane crashes and the al-Qaeda were Wahhabis. Early Muslims tortured people and gouged out their eyes, so if an extremist is one who greatly deviates from the original teaching, peaceful liberal Muslims are at least as much “extremists” in Islam as the violent Wahhabis.”

TIMO:- “I suggest you hit the history books to actually learn how much they’ve been religiously persecuted and insulted, used, and abused through the years by western society and their corporations.”

WASSUP.DOC2014:- The younger generation of all Nations cannot continually blame their forefathers for the mess the world is in RIGHT NOW. There must be a limit to laying blame. In the “Good Old Days” a worker (if lucky was paid a shekel or a penny or a brass razoo for many hours, days or weeks work whereas nowadays workers receive possibly $1000 per week of less than 40 hours in five days. They are even given holidays. Were the pyramid builders as fortunate?

TIMO:- “Like any society or faith, there will always be a small radicalized segment who lean towards extremism – – -“

WASSUP.DOC2014:- At last we find a point-of-view that we BOTH AGREE upon!!! Unfortunately when some arrive ready for the fight with the rebels and then they realise what a tragic mistake they have made and return they want to be allowed back. Others appeal to the Australian Embassies to help them get back “home”. I was born in Australia so it is your duty to protect and help me. Please forgive me.” They should be arrested and kept in prison charged with terrorism.

TIMO:- “How many Muslims now live in Australia – 300,000? As a percentage of their population, the fact a hundred or so might be involved overseas in fighting represents what, 0.03% of their numbers? This is enough to justify your rant that the whole lot should be shipped back home?

WASSUP.DOC2014:- Timo! Timo!! Timo!!! Yes, I will accept your estimate of 300,000 muslims living in Australia – – – (LEGALLY). There could be another several thousand who have arrived as tourists and simply over-stayed their visas, or arrived by boats that managed to evade out Coastal Patrols.

Please cut and paste from ANY OF MY POSTS where I say the words to the Timo:- “that THE WHOLE LOT effect (my capitalisation) should be shipped back home?” I have NEVER said “the whole lot should be shipped back”. It is not and never has been even from early colonial days of the Afghan camel traders until now with muslim refugees. It is the older generations who have realised their good fortune and settled into Australian way of life to a certain degree. The younger generation, however, have not wished to integrate into our society, they have possibly listened to the radical thoughts of some imams (Sheik Abdul Salam Zoud and the ever-changeable Cleric Sheik mohammed Omran), other rebel-minded youths (Zak Mallah), and adults (Jack Roche and Willie Brigite), even visiting tourists (Indonesian Abu Bakar Bashir) all preaching hatred for Australia, Australians and everything Australian. Then I ask the simple question, “if we are not to your liking, WHY STAY HERE?

You bring in Martyn Bryant (not a muslim, either), Port Arthur (Tasmania) and his massacre. What a very sad individual. His trouble was never religious-orientated, it was simply this: Martyn Bryant was a lonely youth who simply could not or would not mix with youth of his own age. In fact it was only one other person, a woman who befriended him. They were possibly made for each other as friends, not lovers. Possibly she did not have any friends, either. When she passed away, she left him a huge bounty which came from the Tattersalls Lottery Founder, George Addams Tattersall (Tatts originated in Hobart, Tasmania) before moving to Victoria where it really developed into the huge business.

Martyn Bryant inherited not one but many millions of dollars. He knew no one who would/could guide his thinking as how to use that money wisely. Martyn took an interest in guns and rifles and ended up with a huge arsenal of firearms yet nothing to do with them. Finally the loneliness of not having friends twisted his thinking to the extent that he planned the massacre in Port Arthur which stunned all Tasmanians and quite possibly Australia and even overseas.

    See this if interested:-

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Bryant

Port Arthur used to be a quiet, peaceful country town although it was founded under very shocking times as a penal colony. Bryant went on his shooting spree murdering 35 and injuring 23. He was sentenced to 35 life sentences plus 1,035 years without parole.

Again I agree with you Timo. I too, was surprised that only one (so far) muslim has been charged. It is unfortunate that Australian Criminal Justice often appears to work on the side of the criminal. This does not mean the remainder were not just as equally guilty. They must have had connections to terrorism to have already been on ASIO’s watch-list. I have read the book “Australian Jihad” written by Martin Chulov (2006) ISBN-13: 978 1 4050 3723 5 and ISBN-10: 1 4050 3723 7, who was a reporter for the Australian Newspaper.

This book makes very interesting reading to Australians.as Martin Chulov being a reporter had access to information normal day-to-day people never hear about in high places.

Unfortunately for reasons never revealed to the public the Australian Government ordered the book to be seized, removed from booksellers shelves, publishers warehouses and pulped within days of it being published. I managed to obtain a copy before they disappeared for good. Its contents are almost unbelievable, except for the fact the reports come from official sources both local, overseas, bushwalkers, defectors from certain groups of rebels here in Australia and so forth.

“Australian Jihad” might still be available to be read in reference libraries.

    Back to YOUR SUBJECT, Timo.

TIMO:- “While the authorities should have the right to do their utmost to protect our society, the simple fact is that this kind of over-the-top reaction to the radicalism of one individual, plus the anti-Muslim frenzy that ensued in the media, – – -”

WASSUP.DOC2014:- CORRECTION, Timo. There were more than “just one individual”. If nothing else, ALL THE OTHERS arrested but not charged are linked to this problem, and doubtless there are many, many more who were not arrested. You would realise this, had you been able to read “Australian Jihad”. Like yourself I was amazed that only one person was actually charged following the huge raid throughout several States. It is unfortunate that sometimes the Australian Criminal Justice System appears to work on the side of the criminals. This is a case of having to prove a person guilty. There is no doubt at all that all those arrested were guilty of – if nothing else listening to plans for terrorism. They will eventually be proven guilty.

You think that 800 Police were over the top. Doubtless you would suggest one or possibly two Officers only should have gone to the front door and knocked. Asking to be allowed to enter. Ha!!! Yes, while the criminals escaped out the back door!!! It showed how we are determined to catch out the terrorists and terrorist sympathisers. The brothers, sisters wives and even parents of those arrested would have known what they were up to, OR AT LEAST they, too, had un-Australian thoughts and mixing with radical elements of muslim society.

TIMO:- (continuing on from two paragraphs above) “- – – does nothing more than abuse the basic rights and freedoms of the vast majority of Muslim Australians who are decent law-abiding citizens,”

WASSUP.DOC2014:- Isn’t it easy for you to claim “basic human rights”, Timo?

How many times do I need to say – TO AGREE WITH YOU – that THE WOULD-BE TERRORISTS ARE A MINORITY!!!

You appear to be INCAPABLE OF ACCEPTING that it is for the most part throughout this World mainly only muslim communities where there is continual war, where there is fighting, where there is constant turmoil. That is only from amongst muslim communities – THANKFULLY A MINORITY SECTION with the ideas of decapitation – beheadings – will cause cause fear amongst the remainder of the community. It is always muslim-connected. This is foreign to Australians.

TIMO:- “- – – the Irish Catholics against the English protestants”.

WASSUP.DOC2014:- Again you try and introduce things that have nothing to do with Australia and our peaceful way of life. NEVER, EVER has there been any animosity INSIDE AUSTRALIA between these two branches of Christianity. This ridiculous situation is completely confined to those in Ireland, and generally in only one section.

I would like take you to task over your comments about racism, especially after World War II and the Japanese, but this is already far too long.

Muslims have unfortunately followed the same mistakes of earlier “refugees” from Europe after that war (said and meant in a heart-warming manner to our now very Australian “New Australian refugees from WWII who eventually integrated with our Society).

They began forming into enclaves, taking over suburbs rather than integrating with the Australian population. Yet we displayed understanding with them. Yes, we joked between us, but eventually Greeks, Italians, British, Dutch, Belgians, and eventually even Germans, etc, etc, began to live amongst us.

muslims, unfortunately have chosen to remain in their own suburbs with few joining in with us. It is these sudden, viscous terrorists which show some – SOME, please note, Timo – some muslims actually agree with and want to even fight alongside. They even teach their children how to treat those with different ideas by beheading them. This is not a human trait.

There are many, many thousands if not millions of other refugees who are eager to come here, WHO HAVE DONE THE CORRECT THING and waited patiently inside refugee camps in their own country, or a neighbouring country, or somewhere a little safer than their homeland. They did not waste what money they had to pay people-smugglers (quite often other muslins themselves) to have them sneak in by Australia’s back door to jump the queue.

You, yourself Timo, could very well re-read your first sentence in the final paragraph again only this time think of it as”This is what ***I*** should be doing.”

TIMO:- “At times like this we really need to show tolerance and understanding, not demonization of an entire body of people based on the actions of a very few.”

WASSUP.DOC2014:- I sincerely hope that you have noticed that – UNLIKE YOURSELF – I did not resort to trying to insult you.

For your information: I am third generation Australian. My Great Grandparents came from England on the early ships as settlers. My Grandfather came from Germany and settled in Australia marrying an Australian. He was put into a interment camp during the war because of his German heritage, yet none of our Family ever held a grudge against the Australian Govt for this. He had been a seafarer from 14 years of age, lost his Brother at sea while working on a four-master clipper. He was the only person in his home town in Australia who was brave enough to climb up the mast to the crow’s nest to carry out repairs on clippers. However, YES, it took many years for us to forgive the Japanese for trying to bring war to our shores.

That was a long way in the past in the last century!

My apologies to all readers for this being so long.

    ATTENTION Timo:

Without wishing to offend you Timo I trust you will permit me to reply your comment by cutting and pasting parts.

On your response to my post [hopefully above this] by piece.
