In light of the Denmark shooting today that was deemed a terror attack, i wanted to speak about some other BIG events that have occurred this week alone and highlight to you the double standard and pure hypocrisy of the media and government officials. Please watch until the end, this video is important. Please share, like and subscribe to my Youtube channel.

A video was recently shared on my Facebook news-feed by a few people that I know. This video got 35,000 likes- A Multitude of shares and tonnes of support by people who thought Comedian and Atheist Stephen Fry really “gave it to God”. When he was asked on the show “The Meaning Of Life” the Question on what he’d say to God if he/she/it were to exist on the other side i was really expecting an intellectual, compelling and thought provoking response to some really tough questions in regards to life and God (especially based on the support he received), yet what I found was an immature, baseless, emotionally strung, victimizing, self-deflating and asinine rant by an old man in a suit.  Let us look at Stephen Fry’s response to the question on what he would say to God.

[Stephen Fry:] “I will basically…that is the odyssey…I think I’d say, ‘bone cancer in children? What’s that about? How dare you? How dare you create a world in which there is such misery that is not our fault? It’s not right.”

Stephen Fry on "The Meaning Of Life"

Stephen Fry on “The Meaning Of Life”

Stephens introductory spiel to God is instantly on the defense, scorning God for creating a world of which misery exists. Mr. Fry would have a valid point if the scriptures indicated to us that we would live in some perfect flawless world full of butterflies and rainbows. Yet the scriptures clearly explain to us why suffering exists and it gives us a preemptive expectation of hardship and suffering in this life, both minor and major. Yes, an indiscriminate suffering whether young or old, this is the reality of the World that God has already forewarned us about.

So Stephen attacking God for giving us an imperfect world is a moot point because quite frankly what we see in the scriptures is what we get, a world of hardship and suffering. That is akin to Mr. Fry saying to God “How dare you present us with a world that was exactly what you told us it would be like!”.  Yet it is not all bad news, in fact far from it – and a world void of misery would be a world void of happiness –
we wouldn’t know one, without the other.

[Stephen Fry:]  Its utterly, utterly evil. Why should I respect a capricious, mean-minded, stupid god who creates a world which is so full of injustice and pain?’ That’s what I’d say.”

Fry's God concept is Cartoonish at best.

Fry’s meany God concept is Cartoonish                        at best.

A world so full of injustice and pain? A “meany” God? This is a full brunt emotional response with little substance. For example what is a “World so full of injustice?”- give it to me in numbers, give it to me in statistics and figures. He seems to not understand that God is the justice that we might be waiting for. An unfair world it may be, yet not all of it is Gods fault. Call me crazy but some of it is our fault Mr. Fry!

Does Mr. Fry not realize that we could literally end world hunger? Is he well aware that there need not be one starving person on this earth? Indeed our Earth has enough produce to feed us all, equally. Yet who is not stepping up to the plate to rid the world of this problem? US! This unfair “Hierarchy” we see in the world is a result of us, pure and simple. We allow people to starve, we allow people to live on the streets and we allow our fellow beings to suffer- we have the resources to stop much pain and suffering but we choose not to. We have tools that we aren’t using.

Face it Stephen- Starvation IS our fault.

Face it Stephen- Starvation IS our fault.

Instead of spending billions of dollars on war, to only increase the pain and suffering that Mr.Fry is so concerned about, we could be spending that money on health, education and charity.! I am unsympathetic to Stephen Fry’s pathetic cries of anger against God for things that we could collectively change, God is not stupid, but we are! Wake up.! We as societies allow the grubs to keep the world in a state of ruin and turmoil, instead of fighting this clear injustice right before us we’d rather complain to a God that we don’t believe in, right Mr.Fry? Sounds productive to me!

When Stephen Fry is asked if he even thinks he’d get into heaven, he scoffs and says

[Stephen Fry:]  “No! But I wouldn’t want to. I wouldn’t want to get in on his terms.”

Yes Mr. Fry it is unreasonable for God to allow you access to his rewards based on his terms, yet it’s perfectly befitting for you to expect God to give you access to his rewards based on your own terms. What exactly makes you more reasonable than this God that you oppose?

Mr. Fry then continues his emotional rant by stating

[Stephen Fry:] “ Because the god who created this universe, if indeed it was created by God, is quite clearly a maniac. Utter maniac. Totally selfish. Totally…. We have to spend our life on our knees, thanking him? What kind of god would do that?

Stephen Fry actually believes God expects us to spend our lives on our knees- thanking him.

Stephen Fry actually believes God expects us to spend our lives on our knees- thanking him.

God is “totally selfish” for expecting your thanks? Is it selfish for me to do something for someone and hope for a kind remark or gesture back? That is simpleton manners Mr. Fry. Stephen claims that we have to “spend our lives on our knees thanking him?” – Again he makes a sweeping general claim without any detail. Give me a Bible quote or a Quran quote where God tells us to spend our lives on our knees? His response is not factual and is a cartoonish portrayal of prayer and gratitude.

Now let me give you some numbers Mr. Fry- something your breathless rant was completely void of. If we take the most observant Muslim that prays 5 times a day, with each prayer lasting approximately 7 minutes. He has spent 35 minutes of his 24 hour day “on his knees” to God. That is 3 hours a week. That is 12 hours a month. That is 144 hours a year, or to make it easier for you Mr. Fry that is 6 days of prayer in a year. Now Let’s say this person lives to 70 years and starting praying in youth. He would have spent under 1 year of his entire 70 year life Thanking God in prayer. That is hardly “Your life on your knees”…wouldn’t you say?

You are also bewildered that a God would want our thanks. Yet there is something about theology you clearly do not understand Mr. Fry- God doesn’t want us to thank him to stroke his ego. Each time we pray, according to the Qur’an at least – God is APPRECIATIVE of our prayers. This is actually a huge deal, this is actually paramount on understanding the Character of God.  Apparently our “Welcome” to Paradise would be Gods statement

Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated.” (Quran 76:22)

Whereas the lucky person in paradise would reaffirm:

Praise to God, who has removed from us all sorrow. Indeed, our Lord is Forgiving and Appreciative”(Quran 35:34)

So is God sounding like less of a douche-bag to you yet Mr. Fry? Oh no, but you have some more “fish” to fry, don’t you? Pardon my pun. Let us continue with his angry diatribe.

Mr. Fry creates Mythical baby eye eating insects to make God look worse.

Mr. Fry creates Mythical baby eye eating insects to make God look worse.

[Stephen Fry:]  “Yes, the world is splendid, but it also has in it insects, whose whole life cycle is to burrow into the eyes of children and make them blind. That eat outwards from the eyes. How — why? Why did you do that to us? You could easily have made a creation in which that didn’t exist. It is simply not acceptable.”

Again Mr. Fry presents us with some pudding, in this case an insect, yet fails to give us the custard. His claim is that there is an insect whose entire life cycle is to burrow into the eyes of children, make them blind and eat out the eye. What insect exactly is he talking about? Give us names, not even scientific names. Does he mean the Mango fly? Deer fly? Bot fly?

First of all such insects do not “Select” children, though at times their host- by chance- may be children. Also they do not “burrow into the eye”- they lay larvae– finally they most often cause discomfort but almost never blindness. Not to mention these animals are found in remote areas of the world, primarily only Central and Western Africa.

Is this another over the top and dramatic take from an angry atheist trying to make God sound a little more cruel and sick? I’d say so given the lack of facts in his argument about eye eating insects whose sole purpose is to hunt children down and make them blind. He has literally taken an annoying and slightly dangerous fly, endemic to a remote part of the world and made it into a Phenomenal God forsaken Boogie Monster. It’s bad Stephen, but it’s not THAT bad.

Stephen goes on to prove something about scripture- below was his final “hammer on the head” statement about God.

[Stephen Fry:] “So, you know, atheism is not just about them not believing there is – not believing there is a god, but on the assumption that there is one, what kind of god is he? It’s perfectly apparent that he’s monstrous, utterly monstrous, and deserves no respect whatsoever. The moment you banish him, your life becomes simpler, purer, cleaner, and more worth living in my opinion.

First of all I am glad he elaborates that it is his opinion, coming from both a Theistic and Agnostic position I could conclude that my life feels simpler, purer, cleaner and more worthwhile once I jumped on the Theistic side of the fence, but who’s to argue opinions? Lets argue statements.

Mr.Fry claims that Atheism isn’t just about disbelieving in a God, it’s also about concluding that even if God is real, it is to confirm that he a monstrous tool that deserves no respect. So in essence is he not “supporting” the scriptures by admitting rebellion? He openly states that even if there is a God, it deserves to be rebelled against– yet that kind of attitude does no favours to him, it actually reinforces the scriptural texts and Gods admonishing of such  “rebels” who would refuse  belief, even if they had full knowledge of his existence.

I think not that the Hour will ever come, and even if indeed I am brought back unto my Lord I surely shall find better than this as a resort.” (Quran 18:36)

Stephen Fry unknowingly reaffirms the scriptural definitions of pride and arrogance.

Stephen Fry unknowingly reaffirms the scriptural definitions of pride and arrogance.

So at the end of the day I am left bemused at how easy it was for so many atheists to get excited by some “high profile” man speaking ill about a God he doesn’t believe in. Not only does he do a terrible job at presenting his points, without facts- he responds by letting down his guard by conducting an entirely emotional cry about what a big fat meany God Is.

He unknowingly confirms scriptural acknowledgement for the arrogance of some of mankind and he clearly lacks basic knowledge on the concept of theology, regardless of its angle. Stephen Fry is like the Richard Dawkins of religion– he might be great at comedy, just as Dawkins is great at Evolutionary Biology yet when it comes to matters of God and Faith- these men fall flat on their faces. Stick to what you know fellas.

Peace, Salam 🙂
